About Gary and Toni
Gary worked for many years as a paramedic in the Ottawa area. In addition to being on the road, he spent time in management, helped design equipment, and developed and instructed courses (including some at the instructor level in various first aid and rescue techniques).
A back injury ended that career and meant a return to university with subsequent retraining as a teacher. In the classroom, he brought alive his keen interests in biology, astronomy and Canadian history, and mixed things up with his background in storytelling.
Moving to Nanaimo brought about another career change, this time to real estate, something Gary had been considering for some time. He has experience in home construction, renovation, and design, all of which come in handy in his work now.
This unique background means Gary knows houses (and people too) inside and out! He brings a calm, positive, problem-solving approach to the most stressful of situations, and he is a skilled negotiator who understands how to bring about a win-win situation.
Gary does not have a wall full of awards for selling the most homes or getting the most listings. He does have people whose lives he's saved, children who have become excited about learning because of him, and a growing list of clients who think he's great. (See for yourself.)
Toni has worked behind the scenes with Gary for a number of years, most notably with staging some of Gary's listings and with welcoming buyers new to Nanaimo. As of January 2011, she joins Gary as a licensed Realtor and looks forward to playing a more active role in the business. She has accreditation in staging and resdesign. Her background is primarily in education, where she worked mostly as a resource teacher in special education. The skill set she acquired there - including assessing client's needs, liasing with other professionals, planning programs to meet client's needs, and communicating clearly with all stakeholders - is ideal for her new career in real estate.
